Families frequently turn to the church when experiencing mental health struggles and children’s ministry leaders are often the first to learn of a child’s distress. In this breakout, participants will learn appropriate responses to mental health crises and emergencies, review confidentiality boundaries when kids disclose abuse, neglect, suicidal or self-injurious thoughts or behavior, identify practical supports for families with mental health concerns, and be equipped to help families locate appropriate professional care for their children.
